A second player is unable to make it to the live portion of the WSOP Main Event which is due to take place tonight. Upeshka De Silva When the World Series of Poker Main Event was announced during the peak of a global pandemic, many believed it was a terrible idea.  Peiyuan Sun of China did not travel to the International final table at King's Casino and now Upeshka De Silva has tested positive for COVID-19 on the morning of the US final table. Joe Ingram confirmed the news, which De Silva retweeted: One of the final 9 for the @WSOP main event tomorrow at the Rio has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been disqualified. Upeshka De Silva aka @PadawanPesh says he quarantined on Dec 10th - tested positive on the 20th, negative on 26th, and positive on the 27th — Joey Ingram #PASSION (@Joeingram1) December 28, 2020 Final Table starts tomorrow at NOON so had to get this story out tonight. 9th place is $98,000 and 1st is over $1,500,000@PadawanPesh also made a WPT FT earlier this year that’s been delayed due to Corona. pic.twitter.com/XcLVTmCt35 — Joey Ingram #PASSION (@Joeingram1) December 28, 2020 Under the controversial rules, that means he will have to take 9th place money, which is $98,813. The same rule applied for Peiyuan Sun who was the joint shortest stack, De SIlva would have started the final table 8th in chips, but is a three-time bracelet winner and many would consider a good bet to take the tournament down.  Tonight's winner will win $1,553,256 and a chance to play for a further $1 million.  This was an entirely predictable outcome for an event which was scheduled during a global pandemic where cases are rising everywhere, especially in the United States.  What should a disqualified player win?
